1. Safety as Your #1 Priority. Allow participants to focus on rowing by making them comfortable at your boathouse. Match them with the appropriate equipment, understand their swimming ability, and build safety education an exciting learning opportunity. View LTR Safety Guidelines HERE.
2. Insurance to Cover Your LTR Participants. All participants and guests should sign a paper copy or digital copy USRowing waiver to be covered under your policy for the day.
3. “Know Your Why” and Deliver. Decide the needs of your organization and know why you are running LTR Day. Then deliver a positive experience to participants to keep them coming back. A boathouse tour, carrying the boat, and trying rowing on an ergometer might be what you need to “hook” your newest rowers.
4. Team-Building and community. One of the most important things we all take from rowing is the friendships. That can start on day one! Build in icebreakers and empower participants through your LTR Day program. View LTR Boathouse Inclusion tips HERE.
5. A Next-Step to Keep Participants Engaged! To capitalize on the newto-rowing energy, before LTR Day participants leave the boathouse, make sure they know what to sign up for next and how!
